The process for Block Foam Production

Foam production which holds an important spot in the Turkish industry is done in two ways which are Continuous and Discontinuous (also referred as moulded) production methods.

Main components are: Polyol and TDI (80/20) are mixed with the catalysts and other additives in the mixing chamber to let the foaming occur.

Polyols used are in two types being Conventional and Polymeric. Mostly polyols with OH values of 30-60 are used for foam production. The solid contents of polymeric polyols (copolymers) are around 10-45% where as their hydroxile numbers (OH) are between 30-45. Widely used polyols are the ones with 10-12% solid contents. As the solid contents of the polyols are increased, the quality, hardness and physical qualities are also improved. In Turkey, the usage ratios of polyols are 80% polymeric and 20% conventional. TEKPOL also supplies silicones, amines, tins and other auxiliary products along with its base material product lines to all foam producers from its stocks. With its over 20 different products (catalysts, silicones, color pastes, flame retardants, foaming agents and blowing agents...) TEKPOL is one of its kind in the market as a one stop shop. It is possible to produce foams of different densities, hardness values, colours and physical properties. For this reason the producer makes his own formulation. The quality of the produced foam is also connected to the machinery and technology used for production along with the base materials.
